In 2025, the greatest number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships worldwide were once again awarded to Pakistani students.

The European Union has awarded 114 Pakistani students with Erasmus+ Joint Masters scholarships.

The fact that 66 of the 114 students chosen this year are female, accounting for nearly 58 percent of all Pakistani recipients, is also a historic accomplishment for gender equality.

These esteemed scholarships cover all costs, including tuition, travel, visas, and living expenses, and enable students to study in several European nations.

The curriculum provides an international experience through internships, collaborative research, and a final thesis overseen by various academic institutions.

A total of 2,176 students from 140 different countries were chosen for 2025. The top five countries were Pakistan, India (96), Bangladesh (95), Mexico (93), Nigeria (75), and Brazil (73). This demonstrates the Global South's high level of intellectual ability.

Pakistan was awarded 189 scholarships in 2024, with 100 of them going to male students, 88 to female students, and one to a non-binary student.

The outcome this year was hailed as a "proud moment" and an indication of Pakistan's improving academic standing globally by the EU Delegation in Islamabad. These international initiatives also brought attention to the increasing presence of women in higher education.
