The School Education and Higher Education Departments have received a heatwave advisory from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) as temperatures in Punjab continue to rise, urging immediate action to protect staff and students.

All commissioners and deputy commissioners have also received the advisory from the PDMA, which emphasizes the value of early planning.

In addition to suggesting that summer breaks might need to be announced sooner if the heat continues to increase, the letter suggests rearranging school and college schedules to avoid the warmest times of the day.

Educational institutions have been instructed to encourage students to wear light, breathable clothing and to guarantee that there is always clean, cool drinking water available on campus.

The caution also emphasized the health concerns connected with high temperatures, especially for youngsters in crowded, inadequately ventilated classrooms.

The PDMA is urging school authorities to take fast, responsible action to reduce health risks during the exceptional weather spell, as the Met Office predicts higher-than-normal temperatures in the coming weeks.

To guarantee prompt information flow, coordination with district disaster management agencies has been emphasized.

In addition, Punjab continues to experience dry weather, with temperatures gradually rising as the summer heat builds.

The Met Office reports that the minimum temperature in Lahore has dropped to 23°C, with a high temperature of 40°C predicted in the next few days.
