The Punjab government has formally released the province-wide admissions policy for medical and dentistry colleges. This occurs after the Specialized Healthcare Department on Friday notified the public that the policy had been approved by the provincial cabinet and put into effect.

Students from Islamabad would be impacted by a major change in the new policy. They are no longer eligible for open merit admissions to MBBS programs since Punjab's medical colleges have only three seats set aside for them.

Students from the federal capital, who previously had more opportunity to compete on merit, are disappointed by this change.

Another accomplishment is that the province may now offer more medical education, with 100 students admitted to Narowal Medical College for the current academic year.

October 21, 2024, marks the start of the government medical colleges' application period, which will end on November 4, 2024. Applications can be sent to private medical colleges between November 5, 2024, and November 19, 2024. Applications for dental colleges will be accepted from November 20 to December 4, 2024, for government dental colleges, and from December 5 to December 19, 2024, for private dental colleges.
