The Punjab Education Department has announced new and more stringent guidelines for all government colleges in the province, including mandatory attendance requirements, fines for absenteeism, and updated academic regulations for students.
The new rules state that students who receive an "F" grade in two or more subjects will not be sent to the admission board for promotion.
Exam absence has also resulted in fines from the agency. Absence from the December and pre-board exams would result in a penalty of Rs. 200 for each paper, while skipping monthly tests will result in a fine of Rs. 100 per paper.
If a student misses an exam without providing a legitimate medical certificate, they will be considered unsuccessful. It has been mandated that all students must attend the monthly, December, and pre-board exams.
Roll number slips for exams will not be given to pupils who do not satisfy the minimum attendance standard of 75 percent set by the Education Department.
The circular said that the relevant College Council would address cases of exam misconduct or cheating and that their decision would be final.
