Nasir Jamal Khattak ‘appointed’ VC of University of Muzaffarabad

Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak has been appointed as the University of Muzaffarabad's new vice chancellor.
After receiving formal approval from Barrister Sultan Mahmood, the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the appointment was made.
Professor Dr. Nasir Jamal, Professor Dr. Ayesha Sohail, and Dr. Muhammad Khan were among the three candidates that the university syndicate presented to the president, according to the sources.
All three applicants were individually interviewed by President Barrister Sultan Mahmood, who then gave his final approval for the appointment of Professor Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, who came out on top based on merit.
The ruling marks a significant turning point in academic leadership and institutional advancement at the University of Muzaffarabad.
AKU Appoints New Dean
AKU appoints a new dean of their Medical College in Pakistan. Dr. Damji, a highly esteemed clinician, scholar, and leader with decades of expertise, has a lifelong dedication to AKU's purpose.
On August 11, 2025, he will take over. Professor Damji is the first Laila Endowment Chair in the AKU, Pakistan, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He has volunteered with AKU in Pakistan, East Africa, and Afghanistan for the past thirty years, making him a member of the AKU family.
Professor Damji said it is a source of humility and honor to serve AKU in this new capacity. As the next dean, I can't wait to work with my colleagues at AKU and beyond to advance medical education, continue research, and support the development of learning health systems in Pakistan and the region.
"The appointment of Professor Damji is crucial for AKU's Medical College," stated Sulaiman Shahabuddin, president of AKU. "Under his leadership, we will be able to further our academic mission, improve research and innovation, and train the next generation of doctors to meet the changing health needs of Pakistan and the wider region."
