ICCBS Sets Monthly Stipend of PKR 70,000 for PhD Students

The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has increased the monthly scholarship for MPhil and PhD students.

The PhD scholarship stipend has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000, while the MPhil scholarship has been increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month.

This decision was taken in a faculty meeting chaired by ICCBS Director, University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah.

It is worth noting that under the Higher Education Degree Programme of the University of Karachi, ICCBS University of Karachi has announced admissions to its internationally renowned MPhil and PhD programs for the academic year 2025.

Addressing the meeting, Professor Dr. Raza Shah said that ICCBS is among the few institutions in the country that provide scholarships to all its MPhil and PhD students.

According to the new policy, now MPhil students will be given a monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000, and PhD students will be given a monthly stipend of Rs. 70,000. He said that the institution’s student-friendly policies and modern research facilities will attract students of higher education towards quality research.

The entrance prospectus and fee voucher are available for download on the University of Karachi and ICCBS websites, according to the spokesperson for ICCBS University of Karachi.

When submitting the application form, photocopies of the necessary educational certificates, and a paid fee voucher of Rs. 8,000 to the Academic Coordination Office of ICCBS between June 23 and July 7, 2025, candidates are required to deposit a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 8,000 at any Bank Alfalah branch.

The Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, the University of Karachi, and the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, among other internationally recognized research institutes, will admit successful applicants.
