The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department (HED) is working to create internships for students in a number of the province's industrial establishments.
The Minister of Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, presided over a high-level meeting in this respect on Thursday in the HED committee room.
Maximizing internship opportunities for recent graduates and students presently enrolled in government college BS programs was the main goal of the discussion.
The Special Secretary for Higher Education, Additional Secretaries, Director Colleges, and concerned authorities from the Departments of Youth Affairs and Higher Education were among the high-ranking officials who attended the conference.
Throughout the meeting, the Additional Director Colleges (HED) gave a thorough overview of several programs designed to increase student internship opportunities.
It was discovered that talks had been made in Peshawar, Mardan, and Hazara with businesspeople, government agencies, and non-governmental groups in order to maximize internship opportunities for college students.
These sectors have also responded well to the project, and similar trips to other districts are being made in order to spread it throughout the province.
The provincial minister praised the HED's efforts to establish internships and gave the department instructions to make sure that required internships are implemented in accordance with the Higher Education Commission's policy.
Additionally, he directed that the Departments of Youth Affairs and Higher Education establish a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide internship opportunities for students from both the settled areas and the combined tribal districts.
The necessity of establishing internships in domains like artificial intelligence and new technologies was also underlined by him. He gave the Higher Education and Youth Affairs Departments instructions to work with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in order to accomplish this.
The meeting also covered other important topics pertaining to internships.
