The Sindh Education Department has verified that the Sindh government has raised the upper age restriction for new hires in certain positions from 28 to 30 years old.

The hiring of early childhood educators and monitoring officers is exempt from this rule. In keeping with current efforts to fill these posts, the department has formally announced the move through an official notification.

After a court decision reversed an earlier order to permit an upper age limit of 43 years, the previous age limit for candidates was established at 28 years.

As a result of the recent change, qualified applicants now have until the age of 30 to apply for the vacant advertised positions.

A 2020 announcement by the Sindh government that allowed government employment applicants to be up to 15 years older was overturned by the Supreme Court last year, upholding an order from the Sindh High Court.

Although departmental secretaries could approve age relaxations of up to two years and the chief secretary up to five years, the court explained that more extensive relaxations needed special explanation and compliance with legal requirements.

The goal of the Sindh government's decision to change the age limit is to achieve a balance between giving prospective candidates more options and upholding court decisions.
