Canada is renewing its commitment to giving foreign students, including those from Pakistan, equitable and fair access to the study permit application process.

In 2018, we introduced the Student Direct Stream (SDS) to expedite the application process for eligible post-secondary students.

Along with countries like Nigeria, China, and India, Pakistan was one of the countries that were part of the SDS program. In order to facilitate students' access to higher education in Canada, the initiative sought to expedite the approval of their visas.

However, Canada has announced the immediate termination of the SDS and Nigeria Student Express (NSE) programs as part of continuous efforts to ensure fair treatment for all students and promote program integrity. Pakistan and all other participating nations are affected by this move.

Applications are currently being accepted through the standard study permit route for prospective students from Pakistan and other countries. Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) are still accepted as evidence of financial support in this stream, guaranteeing that students fulfill the financial prerequisites for studying in Canada.

Although the SDS and NSE programs have been discontinued, Canada is committed to accepting international students from all over the world and providing them with the chance to pursue their academic goals in a friendly, varied, and inclusive setting.
