Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) is honored to host the 8th World Islamic Economics and Finance Conference (WIEFC 2025) on January 25, 2025, a premier event in the field of Islamic economics and finance. This distinguished conference will bring together leading experts, scholars, and practitioners from around the world to explore the latest advancements and trends shaping the industry.
The conference will commence with a Welcome Speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Sajid Mehmood Shahzad, Vice Chancellor of Minhaj University Lahore, who will set the tone for an insightful and engaging series of sessions. Following this, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishaq Bhatti, Professor of Finance and Financial Data Analytics at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, will introduce the overarching theme of the conference.
Noteworthy keynote speakers include:
- Mr. Syed Samar Hasnain, Executive Director, Islamic Finance Group at the State Bank of Pakistan, who will present the first keynote address on the evolving landscape of Islamic finance.
- Mr. Mujtaba Ahmed Lodhi, Commissioner of Islamic Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, will provide the second keynote on regulatory developments in Islamic finance.
- Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Professor of Economics and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors at MUL, will share his insights during the conference chair's remarks.
- Mr. Justice Dr. Syed Muhammad Anwer, Aalim Judge at the Federal Shariat Court, will deliver a guest talk, offering perspectives on the intersection of law and Islamic finance.
- The final keynote speech will be presented by Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Khokhar, CEO of the Rural Community Development Programme (RCDP), Pakistan, shedding light on Islamic finance’s role in rural development.
