Minhaj University Lahore Celebrates World Potato Day with Culinary Innovation
Lahore – In a vibrant celebration of World Potato Day, the Ibn e Batuta Center of Tourism and Hospitality Management (ICTHM) at Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) hosted a unique culinary competition that brought together creativity, nutrition, and student talent.
The event featured active participation from students of the School of Food Science & Technology (FST) and the Department of Human Nutrition & Dietetics. Participants showcased a wide array of delicious, healthy, and innovative potato-based dishes, demonstrating their culinary skills and understanding of nutritional values.
Renowned chefs from Nestlé Pakistan — Mr. Asad Ali, Mr. Mujahid Ali, and Ms. Shamaila — served as the esteemed panel of judges. Each dish was evaluated based on taste, presentation, and overall nutritional content, offering students invaluable professional insight.
The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Minhaj University’s leadership, including Registrar Prof. Dr. Khurram Shehzad, Treasurer Mr. Abdul Rehman, Director ICTHM Syed Qamar Abbas, and Manager Mr. Hamza Khalid. Prof. Dr. Khurram Shehzad praised the participants’ creativity and emphasized the university’s dedication to experiential learning, innovation, and skill development.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to outstanding students, while the guest chefs received commemorative shields in recognition of their contribution to the academic and culinary excellence of the event.
