Government Managing Director vacancy

Job Description:

The Managing Director will oversee the operations of the NTDC, a state-owned enterprise responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the high-voltage power transmission system in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This executive position involves providing leadership, setting strategic direction, and ensuring the organization meets emerging challenges in the power sector through effective project management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, control, and steer the company’s direction, coordinating with stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the Transmission and Service Network to ensure the delivery of high-quality services aligned with organizational and strategic goals.
  • Manage all key functions, including planning, engineering, and transmission services, reporting directly to the Board.
  • Represent NTDC with stakeholders and authorities, advocating for regulatory support and public interest.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory provisions and rules, maintaining regulatory standards and quality management practices.
  • Prepare strategic business plans and streamline the organizational structure.
  • Establish systems and procedures for quality enhancements and effective project management.
  • Implement performance-based management and a competitive compensation system.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective project management for transmission assets, ensuring targets are met.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and stakeholders to align company objectives with national power sector needs.
  • Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure adherence to strong ethical practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. A Master’s or PhD degree will receive additional consideration.
  • At least 20 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in senior management in the power sector.
  • Relevant experience as CEO or in a comparable leadership role in power sector organizations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of public sector regulations, including tariff determinations, licensing, and policy formulation, is essential.
  • Experience with financial planning, operational control, and strategic initiatives in the power transmission sector.
