Job Description:

Vartana is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team. As an Underwriter, you will assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, ensuring every loan aligns with our credit policy and supports profitable lending. This role requires strong analytical skills and a focus on accuracy and customer service. You will play a vital role in accelerating revenue for top-tier enterprise tech companies by evaluating commercial credit risk and helping our vendor partners close deals.

Responsibilities:

• Perform risk assessments on potential commercial borrowers using credit bureau data, internal history, and other risk factors
• Conduct compliance checks, including OFAC and KYC screenings
• Apply Vartana’s proprietary credit policy to assign borrower ratings, credit limits, and loan terms
• Request additional financial documents or details when necessary and explain requirements clearly
• Review and verify borrower documents for accuracy and completeness
• Analyze financial ratios and spread customer financial information
• Support colleagues in managing large or complex transactions
• Record loan application decisions with a clear basis for each decision
• Maintain strong client relationships and deliver superior customer service

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial financial services, with a focus on credit risk
• 3+ years of experience underwriting commercial borrowers
• 2+ years in a high-volume transactional operations environment
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Familiarity with US commercial lending practices
• Willingness to work US hours and adhere to the US holiday schedule
