The Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) in Bahawalpur, Punjab, is a prominent public institution dedicated to women's higher education in southern Pakistan. Established in 2013, the university traces its origins to 1944 when Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Abbasi V founded it as an intermediate college for women. It was upgraded to a degree college in 1957 and later to a postgraduate college in 2010, before attaining university status in 2013.
GSCWU offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines, including Information Technology, Computer Science, Botany, Zoology, English, Education, Urdu, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Applied Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, and Islamic Studies. The university also offers MPhil programs in Mathematics, Chemistry, Urdu, and Islamiat, and Ph.D. programs in Mathematics and Chemistry.
With an enrollment of approximately 10,000 students, GSCWU is committed to empowering women through quality education, aiming to produce dynamic leaders and practitioners in various fields. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, who assumed office on October 29, 2024, GSCWU continues to foster an environment conducive to academic excellence and personal growth for women in the region.
