On Saturday, the Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) began the initial stage of the distribution of more than five million textbooks to students for the 2025–2026 school year.

Over five million textbook sets will be prepared based on enrollment, which will ensure timely delivery of books and contribute to an efficient academic process, Sindh Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah said in a statement released here at a ceremony marking the start of the books' distribution at the Sindh Textbook Board offices in Jamshoro.

The textbooks were given to the taluka education officers of Manjhand, Thano Bula Khan, and Sehwan in the Jamshoro district by STBB Chairman Parvez Ahmed Baloch so that they could be distributed to the elementary schools. Next week would see the start of the book distribution to secondary schools.

To improve efficiency and streamline the process, the board established a number of monitoring committees. The handout stated that the committees would follow up with schools to make sure the books had reached the students.

According to the minister, textbook availability in schools would be aided by the book banks set up in public schools last year.

He went on to say that in addition to depending on the resources that are available for production and distribution, further measures would be implemented to guarantee textbook availability through book banks, thereby optimizing the use of scarce resources.

As the minister emphasized, we will continue to spread the word about book banks. Aiming for a 50% book return rate each year can assist in reducing future resource usage in the face of growing inflation.

The minister said that last year's establishment of book banks in public schools would contribute to the supply of textbooks in classrooms.
