The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) is an independent quasi-regulatory, quasi-judicial body dedicated to ensuring healthy competition and economic well-being. In alignment with organizational development, CCP intends to seek the services of highly qualified and experienced Data Analysts (two positions).

Job Description

• Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources for analysis and implement data pipelines for real-time market monitoring.
• Apply supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms to identify market patterns, competition metrics, and unusual patterns for market segmentation or concentration.
• Use machine learning techniques to detect price-fixing, collusion, and other anti-competitive behaviors.
• Apply predictive models to assess the competitive impact of mergers and acquisitions. Use Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze merger documents for anti-competitive clauses or market dominance.
• Apply text mining techniques to analyze merger and acquisition documents, press releases, and regulatory filings.
• Assist in the detection of anti-competitive practices by analyzing transaction data, mergers, and acquisitions to evaluate their potential market impact or market competition.
• Work closely with legal and enforcement teams to provide data-driven insights and evidence in investigations related to anti-competitive behavior.
• Create detailed reports and visualizations to communicate complex data analysis findings in a clear and actionable manner.

Responsibilities

• Managing data preparation, analysis, research, and drafting.
• Conducting statistical and data analysis using tools like Business Objects, PowerBI, and Tableau.
• Providing insights and evidence for regulatory investigations.
• Working under tight deadlines and handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

• MSc/MPhil/Ph.D. in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Engineering (with a focus on data analysis), or Business Analytics (related discipline) from an HEC-recognized local or foreign university.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Full working knowledge of competition-related matters in Pakistan and the ability to analyze them in a comparative framework.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with large datasets and perform quantitative analysis.
