Punjab has formally lifted its ban on teacher transfers, which has already drawn a lot of support here on Monday.

As soon as the transfer process started, hundreds of teachers applied, according to media sources.

It has been reported by the channel that the only teachers who can apply are those who are awaiting transfer due to mutual promotion, dismissal, or adjustment.

The station stated that April 13 has been established as the deadline for submitting transfer applications.

According to officials, transfer orders will be sent out after April 30 to allow teachers enough time to change their minds and finish the required paperwork.

On the other hand, the Punjab Schools Reorganization Programme (PSRP) has seen the official elimination of 43,960 teaching and non-teaching positions in 10,652 schools by the Punjab Education Department.

The decision, which marked a significant change in public education policy, was verified by a notification released by the Ministries of Finance and Education. In the first part of the scheme, 5,863 schools have been privatized, and in the second phase, 4,789 schools. Targeting an additional 5,100 schools, the third phase is already in progress.

All 43 districts' district education administrations, including Rawalpindi, have been directed to confirm the termination of posts in outsourced schools by issuing local notices.

As the third phase gets underway, impacted employees have begun to advocate for transfers, allegedly offering financial assistance and political support to avoid being impacted.

The decision was denounced as unconstitutional by PESTA President Abdul Rauf Kayani, who called on the government to reduce luxury spending instead.

The education system is facing one of its worst crises, with 27 million children now out of school and that number expected to climb to 30 million next year.
