The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, located in Topi, Swabi District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a premier university of engineering sciences and technology in Pakistan. It seeks a highly accomplished individual to take on the role of Rector for a three-year term. The university operates under the charter of the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), a private, non-profit institution. It is in its thirty-first year of academic excellence, with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the President of Pakistan as its Chancellor.

Job Description

The position is for Rector of the GIK Institute. The Rector will lead the institution, ensuring continued academic and administrative excellence. The individual will uphold the institution’s values and steer it toward further growth and innovation in engineering sciences and technology.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the academic, administrative, and financial functions of the GIK Institute.
2. Drive initiatives to strengthen the institution's academic programs and research output.
3. Represent the institution at national and international forums to foster partnerships and collaborations.
4. Ensure adherence to institutional policies and uphold the values and vision of the university.
5. Facilitate capacity-building activities to enhance academic and administrative staff performance.

Requirements

1. Qualification:

   • Must hold a Ph.D. degree in Natural Sciences and Technology, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Information Technology.
   • Strong academic, administrative, and leadership experience.
   • Proven track record in institution building and strategic vision.
   • Preference will be given to candidates with eminent academic or distinguished administrative backgrounds.

2. Experience:

   • Minimum of 20 years in academics, research, or administrative leadership positions.
   • Proven experience in managing large academic institutions or equivalent.
   • Experience at the highest level in education-related roles will be considered an advantage.
