The XI–XII annual examinations for the year 2025 have been postponed by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).
Originally scheduled to begin on April 28, the general group exams for science, pre-engineering, and pre-medical will now begin on May 6 or later.
The second exam phase, which comprises commerce and arts, will start later than the first because of the postponement.
Several reasons have been given by officials for the exam delay, such as the lack of exam centers, modifications to the prior first-year results because of grace marks, and the lack of a board chairman, which prevented exam preparation.
The matriculation exams in Karachi will continue until May 2, according to a representative of the Sindh Department of Universities and Boards.
It is impossible to move several locations that are currently used for matric examinations in time because they are also used for intermediate exams.
Additionally, the official emphasized the difficulties brought about by grace mark modifications to the first-year results and the dearth of leadership at the school boards in Hyderabad and Karachi.
The approval of paper schedules and lists of test centers has been hampered by the fact that both boards have been operating without chairpersons for almost a month.
Many of the exam locations used for intermediate examinations are also utilized for matriculation exams.
As a result, these centers will be used for intermediate tests following the conclusion of the matric exams. The change in prior first-year results as a result of grace marks is another factor contributing to the delay.
It's important to remember that the Department of Education's Steering Committee originally decided that Sindh's matriculation examinations would start on March 15 and intermediate exams on April 8.
