The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has chosen to expand the number of MDCAT exam locations for admission to medical and dentistry schools.
As per the sources, the test will be conducted in eight exam centers, instead of earlier four designated MDCAT test centers.
The University has requested for more exam centers from the Department of Specialized Health. Punjab
Twenty-six exam locations across thirteen cities are hosting MDCAT under UHS.
This year, there will be 34 exam centers instead of just 30 for the MDCAT.
The requirement that applicants take the test in their home province is probably going to cause the number to rise.
Given the volume of applicants, it was determined to expand the number of testing locations.
UHS Approves Stricter Rules for Undergraduate Programs
Clearer standards for student promotion, probation, and expulsion under the semester system were provided by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Syndicate on Wednesday, which approved revisions to the Undergraduate Programs Regulations 2024.
The updated policy requires students enrolled in programs including Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Doctor of Pharmacy, and Allied Health Sciences to get at least 50% on both theory and practical exams.
Obtaining a degree will require a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.0.
Students will be permitted to move forward to the following semester if they maintain a GPA of 1.7 or higher and pass every subject. Every two semesters, there will be a "resit" exam for students who want to raise their grades or fail any subjects.
A retake failure will put the student back in the previous semester, and a repeated failure could end in program dismissal. Nonetheless, during the degree, there will be one opportunity for readmission.
The revised rules now provide for make-up classes in the event that a student's attendance is below the minimum.
Furthermore, the Syndicate approved changes to recently released undergraduate exam results to bring them into compliance with the new regulations.
Along with other Syndicate members, UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore presided over the meeting.
