Three new Bachelor of Science programs—BS in Political Science, BS in Psychology, and BS in E-Commerce—are currently available at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
The goal of these additions to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is to give students access to a wider range of educational options.
Dean Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir presided over a recent Faculty Board meeting when the new programs were authorized. Updated study plans for undergraduate, MPhil, PhD, and other postgraduate courses across several departments were also approved by the board.
The panel also covered curriculum revisions, including revising current courses and adding new subjects to better match industry and academic standards, according to a news release released on Monday.
Dr. Sahir stressed that all academic programs shall follow the guidelines established by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). He reiterated the university's dedication to providing high-quality instruction under the direction of Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, the vice chancellor.
He added that all degree programs already include classes on Fahm-ul-Quran and Seerat-un-Nabi in accordance with government directives. In order to honor and promote Pakistan's cultural and linguistic legacy, AIOU intends to provide courses on the country's languages in the future.
Faculty members were told that before submitting new programs to the Academic Council for final approval, they must make sure they fulfill the necessary credit hours and policy requirements.
Lecturer Dr. Munir Khattak also discussed the planned Undergraduate Rules, Regulations, and Procedures (URRP) 2025, which are intended to help both on-campus and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) students. All of the academic members agreed with the suggestion.
The Academic Council and Executive Council will review and ultimately approve all Faculty Board decisions and recommendations in future sessions.
