On Wednesday, the 37th session of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Board of Studies in Nursing was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
Both the four-year and two-year BSc Nursing admission schedules for 2024, as well as the admission schedule for the upcoming four-year program, were authorised by the board. Chiefs of related public and private nursing schools were present.
According to reports, Punjab's four-year BSc Nursing program would begin accepting applications this month. The admission exam and interviews are scheduled for the second week of November, and the first merit list is expected in the third week of November.
The final merit list will be made public on December 31, and the fall semester will begin on January 13, 2025. The spring semester is slated to begin on July 1, 2025.
Exam dates for 2024 were also agreed; first professional tests will be held in March, second professional exams in April, third professional exams in May, and fourth professional exams in June.

The province's nursing faculty development was another topic of discussion for the board. Nursing faculty members will serve on the editorial board of Biomedica, UHS's official publication, which will include a section dedicated to nursing research studies.
Every nursing college will establish a Department of Nursing Education, which will report to UHS every two years to oversee faculty training programs. Additionally, it was disclosed that a unique nursing research publication is about to appear.
The vice chancellor, Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, also announced the launch of the UHS nursing faculty, for which online registration is available.
UHS will offer a special English, Pakistan Studies, and Islamic Studies exam to graduates of the two-year Post-RN Nursing degree in order to address the issue of equivalency.
With the aid of this exam, obtaining the Higher Education Commission's (HEC) BSc equivalence will be simpler. These classes will now be offered as part of the post-RN nursing curriculum.
