The Summer Internship Program 2025 has been officially approved by Senate Chairman as part of the upper house's continuous outreach campaign to involve young people in the legislative process.

Commencing on June 16th, the program will last for eight weeks.

The Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST), the National University of Modern Languages (Numl), and the National University of Sciences and Technology (Nust) are among the top universities from which a total of 21 students were chosen.

Particularly during the current budget session, the program aims to improve students' comprehension and hands-on experience with the legislative and administrative operations of the Senate, notably in the social sciences and technical sectors.

A two-day orientation at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) will be held for the chosen candidates before the program officially begins. The Constitution, the legislative process, the Senate Secretariat's operations, and its standing committees will be the main topics of the orientation.

The Senate chairman has also instituted an unpaid six-week internship program since taking office in March 2024, in keeping with his inclusive approach. Over 426 interns from different institutions around the nation have been successfully placed by the Secretariat thus far.

The Secretariat will now expand the internship program's second phase to include O and A level schools in Islamabad, building on this success and guaranteeing greater youth involvement in the legislative and democratic processes.

Punjab to Appoint 35,000 Headmasters in Govt Schools

The appointment of permanent headmasters to 35,000 government schools around the state will close years of leadership voids in the educational system, according to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

The action is a part of a larger attempt to enhance school management and raise educational standards because academic performance and discipline have suffered in many schools that have been run without permanent heads for years.

The official guideline states that as a reward and acknowledgement of their leadership role, each newly appointed headmaster will receive an extra monthly stipend of Rs 10,000. Strong, dependable leadership is crucial for efficient school management and improved student learning results, the minister underlined.
