Pakistan's MoFEPT launched the National Training of Trainers Program at AIOU to strengthen the non-formal education system.

A news release states that community-based non-formal education institutions in Pakistan provide assistance to children, teens, and adults who cannot afford formal education because of their age, poverty, or remote location. They have a second opportunity to learn critical reading, writing, and numeracy abilities at these centers.

Under the initiative, which is administered by the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) with technical assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), master trainers from around the country will impart their knowledge to local teachers in respective provinces and regions.

Non-formal education needs to be acknowledged as a permanent and essential part of the national education system, Federal Secretary for Education Nadeem Mahbub stressed in his remarks at the inauguration ceremony.

"For millions of Pakistanis, non-formal education is not just a short-term fix but a valid and essential learning path," Nadeem said. We are focusing on enhancing teacher capacity, exams, digital tools, and monitoring in order to ensure the industry's success.

"The ToT initiative is a strategic investment in human capital," said Dr. Muhammad Shahid Soroya, Director General of PIE. According to Shahid, each trainer here is a catalyst for social change in their locality. The knowledge and skills they gain will become more influential as they return to their home regions and train others.

Participants like Asadullah Khan from Balochistan and Shazia Bano from Gilgit-Baltistan discussed how the training has motivated them. "I have the confidence and resources to help people who never had the opportunity to go to school because of this training," Bano remarked. "We're giving people a fresh start," Abdullah continued.

During his closing remarks, Secretary Nadeem Mahbub reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to expanding non-formal education nationwide through consistent funding, solid alliances, and creative strategies.

As part of the ministry's larger initiatives to advance inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education throughout Pakistan, the event was held.
