For the MDCAT 2025, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced the opening of more test locations to make things more convenient for applicants.
Students from Balochistan and Sindh will now be permitted to take the test in Islamabad by virtue of this judgment.
Additionally, a new center in Jacobabad has been added to serve students from upper Sindh.
Exam locations in Sindh used to be limited to Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sukkur.
Students from remote areas of upper Sindh, however, faced difficulties in making the long commute. In order to facilitate access, officials have included Jacobabad.
The time and expense of travel had long been a source of grievance for parents and students.
A Jacobabad-based female candidate said she was happy with the choice. She mentioned that she will be able to take the medical and dentistry admission exam in her hometown for the first time.
"I had to travel to Karachi last year, which was really stressful," she added. The nine-hour drive and unfamiliarity with the city's roads made things challenging, and the crowd rendered the plans insufficient. She said that her exam results suffered as a result of the mental strain.
Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences Quetta and Sukkur IBA University have also made the decision to open a center in Islamabad. It is anticipated that this approach will help prepare students from Sindh and Balochistan who are living in the federal capital as well as local candidates.
Before, taking the test required many of these students to return to their home provinces.
In an interview with The Express Tribune, Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, the vice chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, remembered that the university was given the task of administering the test again last year following reports of a paper leak in Sindh.
The MDCAT 2025 registration period opened on August 8 and will run until August 25. Late registration will be accepted until September 1, 2025, according to a PMDC representative.
