Four Pakistani students won four bronze medals for their nation in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), which was held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3.
Team members Ahmed Imran Malik, Muhammad Saram, Ghulam Junaid, and Muhammad Aneeq all took home bronze, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) said in a news statement.
Pakistan placed 32nd out of 86 competing countries, besting a number of high-tech nations, including Saudi Arabia, Germany, Austria, Turkey, France, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Pakistan earned two bronze medals and finished 46th overall last year; this year's achievements represent a major improvement.
The accomplishment was attributed by FBISE to an open and merit-based selection procedure, emphasizing that it reflects the nation's youthful programming and computer science potential.
The board commended the students, their families, mentors, and affiliated institutions for making the country proud.
FBISE was entrusted by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to oversee Pakistan's Olympiad participation.
All education boards, including those that offer Cambridge qualifications, received formal notice via the Inter Boards Coordination Committee (IBCC) to guarantee widespread participation.
There were 528 students enrolled nationwide. Two competitive testing rounds were part of the selection process, which was conducted in 12 locations throughout the nation. The second phase reduced the number of candidates to 25, and the top four students who represented Pakistan were finally chosen.
