Pakistan and Russia to Enhance Educational Cooperation

Russia and Pakistan pledged on Thursday to strengthen their educational cooperation with an emphasis on increasing cooperation between Russian and Pakistani universities, particularly in the field of emerging technologies.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training was visited by a high-level Russian delegation led by Konstantin Mogilevsky, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Andrey Korneev, the State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.
Along with them were representatives from the Russian Embassy in Pakistan, an associate professor from Ural State Pedagogical University, and a consultant from Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Education & Professional Training, gave the team an update on Pakistan's educational accomplishments and obstacles. The talks centered on strengthening bilateral cultural exchanges and collaboration in education.
An official news release stated that the discussion covered the entire range of bilateral educational cooperation and strategies for improving it.
A strong commitment to improving cooperation was made by both parties, especially in the area of emerging technology.
The Russian Deputy Minister emphasized efforts to promote the Russian language in Pakistan and fortify educational ties, while the Pakistani side emphasized a wish to expand academic cooperation.

According to the press release, a deal was made to open a Russian Facilitation Center in Islamabad to support applicants to Russian universities.
In order to foster technology-based industrial linkages and improve educational ties, the Russian team also indicated their desire to host a Russian Educational Expo in Pakistan.
The team also paid a visit to the Islamabad College for Females (ICG), located in Sector F-6/2. While there, they expressed their admiration for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training's work in promoting educational initiatives, particularly those that target females' education.
It was decided by both parties to complete the preparations at the next Joint Working Group Meeting, which is scheduled for October 2024.
It is projected that 2025 will be a turning point in the development of Pakistan-Russian educational cooperation.
