The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) partnered with the event "Future in Focus: AI and Innovation" to make the announcement. The corporation also revealed pilot projects for digital transformation in government and AI education.
"These programs are designed to hasten the nation's digital transformation process," a statement from Meta stated. "Now, Pakistani users can communicate with Meta AI in Urdu in addition to English."
According to Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, the move is consistent with the Prime Minister's "Digital Nation Vision."
She said Pakistan is heading toward a future in which all citizens are empowered by technology. Our collaboration with Meta encourages innovation, digital transformation, and AI education in government and academic institutions. Meta AI's incorporation of Urdu guarantees that no one is left behind in this digital revolution.

Additionally, Meta unveiled a localized edition of their guide, Transforming Public Sector Innovation in Asia Pacific with Llama, which was developed in collaboration with Deloitte and backed by MoITT. The report demonstrates the ways in which Meta's open-source AI model, Llama, can improve public services, bolster data sovereignty, and improve government operations.
It also introduced the AI Literacy Program, which is a collaboration between MoITT, Atomcamp, the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). 350 university instructors in Pakistan who do not specialize in computer science will get basic AI training as part of the program to help them prepare their pupils for new digital challenges.
Meta also launched the Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025 initiative, which seeks to make Meta's technologies and international best practices available to public organizations. To exchange tactics for successful digital transformation, the program will bring together professionals from the public and private sectors.
