The elementary and secondary education department has instructed all district education officers to begin the process of hiring 10,074 primary school teachers as a temporary solution through school-level parent-teacher councils (PTC).

They stated that PTCs, school-based organizations made up of parents of enrolled students, powerful locals, and the school administration, would hire instructors from the corresponding union council for government primary schools.

According to officials, the education department now lacks over 19,000 teachers, and 10,074 of them will be hired temporarily.

Official papers reveal that 3,837 teachers will be hired for girls' primary schools and 392 teachers for boys' primary schools in the province's tribal districts, while 2,935 teachers will be hired for government girls' primary schools and 2,910 for boys' primary schools in settled areas.

Dawn was informed by Mohammad Khalid, the secretary of the elementary and secondary education department, that the goal of the project was to guarantee that every primary school had a minimum of four teachers, or according to the mandated student-teacher ratio of 1–40, whichever was lower.

In addition to employing 10,074 teachers, he claimed that the government-run Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) was also in the process of appointing 16,000 more.

The provincial cabinet has authorized the temporary hiring of 10,074 primary teachers through parent-teacher councils in order to alleviate the severe teacher shortage, especially at the basic level.

For the purpose of ensuring minimal staffing standards and enhancing classroom functionality, these teachers would be hired on an interim basis at an honorarium of Rs25,000 per month. The annual overall financial impact of this initiative is Rs2.267 billion.
