Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has announced the start of a creative "On-Wheel Montessori School" initiative throughout the province as well as the implementation of a school van/bus service for government schools.
She made the statement on Wednesday while chairing a high-level School Education Department meeting where several proposals for transformative education were examined.
For the first time, awards for "School of the Month" and "Teacher of the Month" will be given out according to classroom performance, discipline, lab standards, and general educational quality.
The CM gave officials instructions to draft a thorough plan for the province's first regular school transportation service, which would help kids in outlying districts get to school.
Provincial Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat gave a thorough briefing on departmental activities at the meeting. He emphasized the school outsourcing model's achievements, pointing to a 114 percent growth in teaching personnel and a 99 percent increase in student enrollment. This campaign has produced more than 60,000 job possibilities for educated kids.
Outsourced schools have seen significant infrastructure improvements, such as the building of 413 classrooms, the remodeling of more than 5,000 classrooms, and the fixing of 2,887 roofs. More than 50 schools switched to solar power, and more than 254,000 square meters of boundary walls were built. In addition, 9,303 new blackboards, 5,830 water coolers, and 1,643 water tanks have been installed.
The conference was informed that midday meals are provided to children in outsourced schools in a few areas, including Faisalabad, using a self-help methodology. Furthermore, 70,977 furniture sets have been given to enhance learning conditions in classrooms.
Additionally, as a pilot initiative, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif established the Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) Education Tech Schools and ordered the expansion of such institutions into rural areas. 300,000 students will benefit from a successful English Conversation Program that is in line with IELTS Standard-4 in six months.
Ten thousand early childhood education classrooms have been set up so far in Punjab. Additionally, the Chief Minister oversaw the Nawaz Sharif Center of Excellence's growth, which saw its enrollment rise from 240 to 1,500 students.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Lodhran, Bhakkar, Mianwali, and Bahawalnagar, the School Meal Program is scheduled to start. Proposals to include energy bars, milk, cookies, and other wholesome foods are being reviewed. The goal to finish more than 400 restroom blocks in girls' schools and build more classrooms by the end of the year was also accepted at the meeting.
Additional measures include the construction of 6,000 STEM and scientific labs, the reduction of staffing across schools, and continuous Google training for educators and kids. In addition to ordering that school entrances be standardized throughout Punjab, CM Maryam underlined the importance of providing high-quality teacher preparation.
"Our goal is to elevate our government schools to the level of Punjab's top private institutions," the chief minister stated.
