On Sunday, the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) announced that it had digitalized the procedure for verifying matric and intermediate degrees awarded by intermediate and secondary education boards.
In the past, students had to send in their documents from the issuing boards in sealed envelopes for the IBCC to attest.
According to a press release, "The IBCC has digitized the process, eliminating the requirement for producing hard copies, in recognition of the need for modernization."
Equivalency certificates against O/A levels and other foreign qualifications are provided by the IBCC, an umbrella organization of the nation's 29 educational boards that also verifies matric and intermediate certificates.
Beginning in mid-February 2025, the IBCC will no longer accept sealed envelopes. In the future, document attestation will only take into account data provided via the designated portal or exchanged via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
It added that boards that already have their own digital verification systems have been connected with the IBCC attestation portal through APIs.
According to the statement, this removes the need for students to receive physical verification in sealed envelopes by enabling verified data to be sent straight to the IBCC portal.
The IBCC has created a special component on its website for boards without strong digital infrastructure. With the ability to upload student data straight to the IBCC portal, these boards can now guarantee smooth attestation verification.
The digitization of the process protects the integrity and validity of the data, decreasing the danger of tampering or fraud. It also minimizes the cost and saves time for students by eliminating the requirement for students to travel to their respective boards to collect sealed envelopes, the IBCC added.
It said that the initiative will assist in streamlining the process, assuring speedier and more efficient attestation.
