Education Minister announces rewards for top position holders in Karachi

Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the Sindh Minister for Education, has given prizes for students who placed first in the Karachi Matric Board examinations. He announced that Hafiz Abdul Raffay, the kid who won the top spot, would have his higher education costs paid for till he finishes.

Speaking at an event held by the Delhi School Old Boys Welfare Association in honour of Hafiz Abdul Raffay and other distinguished alumni, Syed Sardar Ali Shah hailed the success of a student from a government school who had been out of school for 28 years and described it as a great start.

He emphasized how students from middle-class families have shown that, despite obstacles, having luxury is not a must for showcasing one's abilities. The venue for the occasion was the auditorium of the Karachi Medical and Dental College located in North Nazimabad.

Along with students, teachers, education officials, and others, those in attendance included the Vice Chancellor of Karachi Metropolitan University, Dr. Waseem Qazi; Director of School Education, Karachi; Head of the Association, Masroor Hussain Warsi; Secretary, Delhi Association, Farhat Hayat; Principal, Delhi School, Ali Khan Mirjat; and others.

Syed Sardar Ali Shah said, "These children have made their parents and me proud" during his address. He conveyed his happiness at the good news about his pledge to his party to enhance education.

The Minister also noted the history of people in this area who founded schools with love and dedication, such as Sindh Madrasa School, Noor Muhammad High School, DJ Science College, and Dow University, and he underlined that a government school student securing a top position has set a precedent.

He praised past pupils who are still involved in the school system and underlined the significance of keeping in mind the schools where impoverished children continue to receive an education in spite of the constitutional guarantee of free education.

Additionally, Sardar Ali Shah emphasized that the Education Department serves as more than just a job source, advising educators to impart integrity in their work. He was happy to see that elected officials are starting to assume accountability for schools. He stated that he was in favor of private schools that put the needs of their parents and children first.

This time, the Minister declared a reward of 200,000 rupees for the top-ranked Hafiz Abdul Raffay, 150,000 rupees for the second-placed Rumaisa Imran from Al-Khalil School, and 100,000 rupees for the third-placed Rukhsar Soomro from Little Folks School. In addition, he promised to pay for Abdul Rafi's further studies.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Waseem Qazi emphasized the significance of developing online platforms to give students in rural areas access to the same resources as those in metropolitan areas, emphasizing the necessity for content enrichment.
