Computer teachers are banned to be assigned to board exam tasks by the Higher Education Department (HED). All school boards have received a directive urging them to adhere to the new policy.

Computer teachers will no longer be designated as superintendents or deputy superintendents during board exams under the new regulations.

The department stated that most schools only have IT teachers in charge of computer education, and giving them exam-related tasks interferes with regular classes.

Considering there are no replacements to teach their classes, the HED underlined that the absence of computer teachers during exam periods hinders the teaching of IT.

The letter went on to say that the absence of these teachers during exam periods has a significant negative influence on computer instruction, particularly since there are no substitute teachers available to cover for them.

The purpose of this action is to guarantee that IT instruction will continue in schools throughout exam seasons.

PU Teachers Disappear After Foreign Scholarships

On the other hand, Punjab University has been involved in a significant scandal when 12 of its professors left their positions after receiving government-funded scholarships to pursue PhDs overseas.

These scholarships were a part of a program that supported academic growth and higher education by sending 56 university professors to study for doctorates abroad. After finishing their education, each grantee committed to working at the institution for a minimum of five years.

Twelve teachers, however, failed to return to work after finishing or nearly finishing their programs. The authorities acted quickly since the total amount lost to the university amounts to hundreds of millions of rupees.

Additionally, the institution will write to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to assist in tracking down and recovering the unpaid sums. The passports of the individuals concerned have been blocked by contacting the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As of this present, all 12 teachers have been fired. To stop future occurrences of this kind, the university is under pressure to get the money back and strengthen its scholarship monitoring mechanism.
