Yesterday, Nafisa Shah chaired a meeting of the National Assembly's special committee on integrating women into the national mainstream. The provision of laptops to Allama Iqbal Open University and Virtual University students was decided upon during the meeting.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), briefed the committee, pointing out that 37% of college students were female in 2002, the year HEC was founded. At the moment, 52% of students are male and 48% of students are female.
