The government intends to establish two new institutions to increase access to high-quality higher education in southern Punjab in order to address the region's expanding educational demands.
Proposals to create a science and technology institute in Rajanpur district and a public sector university in Muzaffargarh district are presently being considered, according to a document accessible with Wealth Pakistan.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) claims that these initiatives could greatly improve South Punjab's academic and technical chances.
According to the document, the HEC has increased its efforts to improve access to high-quality higher education throughout Pakistan, especially in underserved and distant areas, by establishing new universities, sub-campuses, and focused development projects.
A number of universities have been successfully founded and are now fully operational in recent years.
These include the Kalam Bibi International Women Institute in Bannu, the University of Baltistan in Skardu, the Hyderabad Institute for Technology and Management Sciences in Hyderabad, and Karakoram International University in Gilgit.
Through providing cutting-edge academic programs and increasing outreach to underrepresented populations, these institutions work together to alleviate regional disparities.
The federal government has supported numerous campuses of nationally and provincially chartered higher education institutions in remote locations, in addition to creating new universities.
In a similar vein, IBA Sukkur has established a campus at Mirpurkhas.
In addition to several study centers of Allama Iqbal Open University and Virtual University in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Malakand University campus has been constructed in Batkhela.
Private-sector campuses like the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad, in Chiniot and Faisalabad; Ibadat International University, Islamabad, in Pakpattan; and Riphah International University, Islamabad, in Sahiwal and Malakand are also supported by the initiative. The expansions indicate a sector-wide approach to the growing need for education in all provinces.
