The Sindh Education Department has made the decision to introduce a mobile application in order to digitize student enrollment information and teacher and staff attendance records.

Digital Transformation

According to sources, the effort intends to digitize student enrollment records, establish a direct connection between attendance records and the accountant's office, and implement digital monitoring of staff and instructor attendance. The mobile application's development has already started.

To make sure resources are used based on accurate data, we are starting a digital path of performance, openness, and oversight, said Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Sindh's minister of education.

Biometric Attendance System

The Monitoring & Evaluation Wing gave a demonstration of the new digital attendance system during the meeting. It will use the Iris Recognition System to identify teachers by their faces.

To guarantee precise attendance tracking, the mobile application will be connected with the iris recognition technology. This biometric verification technology is a very accurate and safe way to identify someone by analyzing their distinctive iris patterns, which don't change over the course of a person's life.

The mobile application will also be connected to geofencing technology, a location-based system that creates virtual limits using mobile networks or GPS. Only when they arrive on school property will teachers and staff be able to record attendance.

Additionally, once an internet connection is restored, the application will sync attendance data while operating offline.

Features for Managing Attendance and Leave

The system will record both check-in and check-out timings. When access is restored, offline attendance will immediately update on the server in the event that the internet is unavailable.

In order to expedite leave requests, the minister directed that the app should provide a leave application submission option in addition to tools for creating daily, weekly, and monthly attendance reports.

Additionally, the application will monitor absences, early departures, and late arrivals. If employees often arrive late or miss work without warning, automated reminders will be sent to them.

Integration of Payroll and Student Enrollment

In order to ensure accurate student data for future planning and problem-solving, the education minister further underlined the significance of digitizing student admissions by connecting enrollment records with B-Form (child registration certificate).

All staff will find the mobile application easy to use because it will be made with efficiency and user-friendliness in mind. To protect data, security measures will also be put in place, such as cloud-based data storage.

The Accountant General Sindh's Office and the attendance system will be connected in the upcoming phase, allowing for automated wage deductions for unapproved absences. These actions are intended to improve the education sector's effectiveness, accountability, and transparency.
