In order to improve exam accessibility, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has implemented new policies that would especially help those with disabilities.

Extended Duration for Applicants with Disabilities:

  • For exams lasting 1.5 hours, an extra 15 minutes.

  • For three-hour tests, an extra thirty minutes.

Relaxed ID Requirements:

  • Under some circumstances, candidates whose ID cards have expired within the last six months may still sit for the test.

  • Candidates who have a valid domicile but no ID card are also eligible.

  • Approved at a recent commission meeting, these candidate-friendly improvements demonstrate PPSC's dedication to accessibility and inclusivity.

Passing Marks to 40% by 2026 in Punjab

The Punjab government said that, starting in 2026, the minimum passing score for examinations administered by all provincial educational boards would rise to 40%.

Directives sent to all Punjab educational boards state that the new policy requires students to receive at least 40% on their tests in order to pass. Although the plan's implementation was originally scheduled for this year, the Punjab Cabinet has not yet given their final permission.

The cabinet's approval of the policy is sought in a summary already prepared by the Higher Education Department (HED). A redesigned exam scoring method will be implemented by the department, along with an increase in passing scores.

The Higher Education Department has started official preparations to enable these important changes in the examination structure and is making efforts to guarantee the new policy is implemented smoothly.

Students with disabilities can enroll in Punjab Public Schools

Official sources say the administration has made the decision to allow children with moderate physical disabilities to attend public schools through inclusive education.

Children with mild disabilities can now attend public schools in the area thanks to this program. Principals of schools have been instructed to make sure that these pupils get admitted without facing any discrimination.

Students with impairments had to be enrolled in specialized schools in the past because normal schools frequently refused to accept them. Eliminating this obstacle and fostering an inclusive learning environment are the goals of the new policy.

Rana Sikandar Hayat, Punjab's Minister of Education, will grant the policy's final approval, opening the door for its execution.
