The Punjab government has issued significant directives for both public and private schools, including a modification of the student dress code, in response to the recent heatwave.
Following the high temperatures, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered officials to stay on high alert and encouraged everyone to take all essential safety precautions. In order to prevent heat-related health hazards, she suggested that parents keep their kids indoors.
The Chief Minister has directed that all outdoor activities in schools be immediately suspended as part of the new restrictions. In order to provide children with a minimal degree of comfort, she also mandated that every classroom have a working fan.
Considering the extreme heat, Maryam Nawaz also said that the school's dress code will be relaxed, enabling children to dress in more comfortable and light clothing. She also underlined the need for having a first aid kit on campus at all schools.
The chief minister ordered the provision of cool drinking water, shaded areas, and first aid services for public areas, including busy marketplaces and transit hubs.
Additionally, she put Rescue 1122 and health services on high alert, telling them to make sure that bus and van stands have fans, shade, and drinking water. It was recommended that farmers, especially those in Bahawalpur and Multan, use additional caution when working in extremely hot weather.
She also urged people to put water for birds on rooftops so they may withstand the severe weather and insisted that farms provide enough shade and water for their livestock.
