The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, in partnership with the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), has started an initiative called "ILMpact" to improve the quality of education and enroll 80,000 out-of-school children in eight districts of the province.
The British Council is carrying out the initiative, according to an official statement released here on Thursday. Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur formally introduced it during a ceremony held at the Chief Minister's residence.
James Hampson, the country director of the British Council; Faisal Khan Tarakai, the minister of elementary and secondary education; representatives from partner organizations; and officials from the elementary and secondary education department attended the ceremony.
In eight districts of the province—Battagram, Mansehra, Swabi, Buner, Shangla, Khyber, Mohmand, and Dera Ismail Khan—80,000 out-of-school children would benefit from the ILMpact initiative, according to the spokesperson.
It added that under ILMpact, all-encompassing efforts would be made to improve the quality of education in certain districts and enroll children who are not in school.
As part of the program, master trainers would be ready to provide instructors with up-to-date instruction, while government school management committees and parent-teacher councils would be the focus of capacity-building projects.
The program gives special attention to the education of girls, children from minority populations, and children from disadvantaged and exceptional backgrounds.
In the chosen districts, awareness programs will also be started to advance education, particularly for girls, according to the statement.
Mr. Gandapur thanked all of the partner organizations for helping to make the program a reality in his speech on the occasion.
The goal of our government is not just to offer education but also to guarantee that it is of high quality.
Since the beginning, we have made it a priority to provide schools with the facilities they lack. Our goal for this year is to ensure that no student at a government school lacks a desk or chair.
