Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has seized two fake degrees in Allied Health Sciences. These fake degrees were submitted to the university for verification.

According to a KMU spokesperson, on July 09, 2025, two students, Muhammad Suhaban, son of Ijaz Hussain, and Muhammad Isa, son of Karamat Khan, requested verification of their Bachelor of Science in Radiology Technology degrees, in which they presented themselves as students of North-West Institute of Allied Health Sciences Peshawar.

However, when the university’s Examinations Department conducted a detailed check of the records of these degrees on this request, according to the records, KMU had not issued any degree under the above-mentioned names and details provided.

After learning of the case, the university's vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, praised the Examinations Department's prompt detection and ordered the two people to face immediate and severe disciplinary action in accordance with the university's zero tolerance policy against fake degrees.

Following the instructions of the vice chancellor, the Examinations Department sent the case to the FIA for further investigation and legal action against the two individuals.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, while reacting to the seizure of the two fake degrees, said that forgery of educational certificates is not only a serious legal offense but also an attempt to damage the reputation of educational institutions in the society.

He clarified that only formal applications and official records of the university should be relied upon for verification of degrees or certificates.

Getting employment or admission in any institution on the basis of fake certificates is illegal, and legal action can be taken against it.

VC KMU Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq further said that KMU does not compromise on the transparency and quality system of its credentials, and a zero-tolerance policy is being implemented in the university in this regard.

All institutions are directed to contact the university directly for verification of the degree or diploma of any candidate so that incidents like forgery can be prevented, which is a common national and moral responsibility of all of us.

He said that in the future, it has been decided to verify the university degrees online for the prevention of fake degrees and for the convenience of students. This will provide students and related institutions with the facilities to verify the university degrees online without any hassle.

This initiative, on the one hand, will provide a hassle-free verification process and, on the other hand, will spread a culture of transparency and will also help in preventing fake degrees.
