The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has made the decision to establish a new grading and rating system for all colleges and universities.

Meena Khan Afridi, Minister for Higher Education, chaired a significant meeting wherein comprehensive briefings on the ranking criteria for colleges and universities were provided.

This rating system's main objective is to increase students' access to high-quality education. The implementation of this system will greatly raise regional educational standards, Minister Afridi underlined.

In order to rate institutions according to their performance, she gave the appropriate authorities instructions to gather data from the previous three years.

Previously, millions of children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) did not attend school, despite the government's emphasis on health and education, especially in tribal communities where girls' education is frequently disregarded.

The situation is made worse by problems like natural disasters or terrorism that prevent schools from operating.

Teachers are protesting for improved circumstances as K-P continues to experience financial difficulties at schools and colleges, despite an increase in the education budget.

In order to guarantee that all students, especially girls, have access to high-quality education, experts stress the necessity of infrastructure improvements and changes.

There is still doubt about the government's commitment to solving the education situation, even with increased budgetary allotments.

On the other hand, the Sindh government became the first province in Pakistan to execute reforms, having formally implemented a new grading structure for matriculation and intermediate-level exams.

The Department of Boards and Universities said in a notification that this new policy will replace the marking system with grades starting in 2025.

The objective of this policy is to promote a more inclusive and stress-free learning environment by taking a more comprehensive approach to student evaluation by emphasizing overall academic success rather than competitive ranking.
