Hungary has announced 400 fully funded scholarships at top Hungarian institutions for Pakistani students. The move is considered deepening cooperation in the education sector.

The statement was made at a joint news conference on Wednesday in Islamabad between Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

The two leaders commemorated the 60th anniversary of Pakistan-Hungary diplomatic ties and signed a number of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) during the press briefing.

The accords emphasize strengthening trade, industrial, and cultural cooperation while restating both countries' commitment to regional peace.

Szijjártó's second official visit to Pakistan was greeted by Ishaq Dar, who described Hungary as a trustworthy and productive partner. He emphasized how Hungary has aided Pakistan's economic development, especially through the Mughal Group, which has boosted the nation's manufacturing industry.

The ministers also talked about the problems with regional security, especially the instability in Afghanistan, a neighboring country.

Dar gave his colleague an update on Pakistan's cross-border security issues and the continuing diplomatic initiatives to resolve them. During the discussions, the humanitarian situation in Gaza was also brought up, and both nations acknowledged the importance of Middle East peace.

In his speech, Szijjártó stressed that Hungary supports Islamabad's peace endeavors and acknowledges Pakistan's efforts to keep the peace in a hazardous region. He pointed out that, like Pakistan, Hungary wants the conflict in Ukraine to end and there to be peace in the entire region.

Szijjártó spoke about the scholarship program and stated that over 1,700 Pakistani students had already applied for the 400 available spots.

Through professional collaborations, cultural exchanges, and intellectual exchanges, he emphasized Hungary's desire to further foster interpersonal relationships.

A new chapter in Pakistan-Hungary relations is marked by the visit and agreements, which highlight common goals in trade, education, diplomacy, and regional security.
