The long-standing problem of out-of-syllabus questions in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) has been fixed, according to Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, eliminating a significant obstacle for prospective medical students throughout Pakistan.
The minister told the media that a consistent question paper for the national medical entrance test has been prepared following discussions with the vice chancellors of each of the four provinces.
He said that following stakeholder talks, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has created a unified syllabus. Therefore, this time, there is no need to worry about questions that are not in the curriculum.
He explained that each province received three papers from the common syllabus, which resulted in a question bank of 6,000 questions. According to him, the provinces are now in charge of choosing which paper to use for the test.
As per Minister Kamal, the debate regarding questions that weren't on the syllabus has finally been resolved. All kids will benefit from this step's transparency, equity, and equal opportunity.
In the event of a paper leak, provincial authorities will be held liable, the minister explained, while the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) is in charge of creating the syllabus and question bank.
The MDCAT 2025 is set on October 26, and 140,125 candidates have enrolled to take it, according to government data. Along with one international center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, there are now 35 exam centers spread out throughout the kingdom.
