The Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen officially approved the 10-point grading scheme for intermediate and matriculation exams.
The aforementioned system will use grades and grade points (GPA) rather than grades to evaluate students' performance.
In lieu of failing, an unsatisfactory grade will be assigned, and passing grades will rise from 33 to 40 percent.
Instead of using grades from 2026, students in classes 9 and 11 will receive grades in the first phase.
In the second phase, starting in 2027, this system will also be used in classes 10 and 12.
According to board representatives, the goal of this modification is to improve students' academic performance and remove them from the race for marks.
Meanwhile, schools have announced their new post-holiday schedules.
As per the updated school schedule, single-shift schools will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. and 12 p.m. on Fridays.
On Friday, the first shift will begin at 8 a.m. and run until 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Schools will begin the second shift at 2:30 pm on Fridays and run from 1 pm to 5:30 pm as usual.
While new school schedules for the summer will be released after April 15, the new school schedule will take effect on April 7.
