Chief Minister’s Task Force on Boards Chairman Muzammil Mahmood said that all intermediate and secondary education boards across Punjab have begun digitizing their systems to reform the examination process.

He was speaking at the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) press briefing on Saturday.

Muzammil Mahmood said e-marking of exam papers will begin in 2026, adding that the practical examination system will be upgraded and biometric verification will ensure students’ presence at exam centers.

He claimed that all of the province's school bodies have officially started digitization efforts to increase exam openness. Referring to past changes, Mr. Mahmood claimed that programs put in place in 2018 were abandoned by the previous administration, allowing irregular activities to resurface.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, he continued, has started a campaign against such activities and instructed officials to take action to make exams transparent.

The task force chairman claims that in the past, the assignment of examination duties was allegedly paid for with substantial quantities of money. He stated that no private employees will be permitted at exam centers under the new system, and all hiring of examination staff will be done digitally.

Mr. Mahmood stated that e-marking would speed up the preparation of results and cut down on declaration delays. He noted that the updated practical test system will concentrate on evaluating students' real practical preparation, making sure that grades are given according to performance.

He claimed that all Punjab education boards were standardizing digital services and examination guidelines. In collaboration with the Inter Board Coordination Commission (IBCC), a grading system would be put into place, and question paper production would follow a redesigned framework with an emphasis on transparency.

At the news conference were IBCC Chairman Dr. Bashir Mullah, Higher Education Boards Additional Secretary Noman Jamil, Rizvi Secretary Nazir of the Lahore Board, and Controller of Examinations Tauseefur Rehman.
