Three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been inked by Chinese universities in Tianjin and the University of Sargodha to strengthen collaboration in the fields of agriculture, healthcare, and education.

On the foundation of friendship, cooperation, and respect for one another, the University of Sargodha and Nankai University will launch academic exchange programs and collaborative projects.

The University of Sargodha's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, emphasized the significance of the agreements: "We have committed to three major projects: a citrus processing unit that is essential to the Sargodha region and the economy of Pakistan; a TCM hospital that is scheduled to start construction in 2025; and an international-standard boarding school."

Dr. Abbas also described the extent of the partnership, which includes faculty training, research, student education, exchange programs, and cooperative efforts to establish research institutes and laboratories, according to a Monday report by Gwadar Pro.

Honorary Investment Counselor Philip Jian Peng of Pakistan's Board of Investment (BoI) emphasized the importance of the collaboration.Additionally, a Letter of Intent to establish a Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the University of Sargodha was signed by the University of Sargodha, Tianjin Sansheng Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM).

Plans include the construction of a 200-bed teaching hospital with a focus on TCM and integrated Chinese-Western medicine.

China was in a similar situation to Pakistan forty years ago. According to Philip, we are committed to exchanging investments, technology, and information in order to support the advancement of our "iron brother."

Philip further pointed out that universities are playing a significant role in CPEC's shift from a government-led project to a business-driven collaboration.

To increase agricultural production, increase exports, and advance food science research, the citrus processing unit, for example, takes advantage of Sargodha's citrus industry. He continued by saying that these initiatives show how the Belt and Road Initiative is fostering innovation, cross-cultural interaction, and sustainable development.
