The government of Sindh has unveiled a significant education program designed to establish the province as a center for technology-based learning and digital literacy.

The government would build Information Technology (IT) colleges in all 30 districts of Sindh, including the seven districts of Karachi.

This action represents a major step forward in expanding access to high-quality technical education and equipping young people with the IT skills that are increasingly in demand worldwide.

The decision to create IT colleges is in response to a September 17, 2025, instruction from the Sukkur Bench of the Sindh High Court, which highlighted the necessity of consistent development of technological institutions throughout the province.

In bid to encourage computer education and digital literacy among pupils, the court mandated that the Sindh government make sure that each district has a minimum of one IT college.

The implementation plan has been initiated by the Department of College Education Sindh in accordance with the regulations.

In order to establish IT colleges in their various regions, the department has directed the Director General Colleges and Regional Director Colleges to provide comprehensive studies on the resources available, the infrastructure that is currently in place, and the prerequisites.

The administration has indicated its urgency to proceed with the project by giving officials a three-day deadline to report their results.

Modern computer labs, fast internet access, and intelligent classrooms are all features of the forthcoming IT institutions.

To facilitate e-learning activities, the government also intends to implement digital libraries and online learning management systems (LMS).

Thousands of new positions for educators, administrators, and IT specialists are anticipated as a result of this expansion.

The program will also create opportunities for public-private sector cooperation, especially in research, internships, and training.
