The government of Punjab has formally released the winter holiday timetable for all schools in the province.
The provincial Education Department has announced that the winter breaks would start on December 23, 2025, and go until January 10, 2026. The new academic term will begin on January 13, 2026, when all schools are scheduled to reopen.
According to the agency, in order to provide a consistent break for students throughout the province, Punjab's public and private educational institutions must adhere to the same schedule.
The decision coincides with the forecast of a significant decrease in temperature in late December, and authorities want to help students during the busiest winter months.
Due to deteriorating pollution conditions, the Punjab Education Department changed school schedules throughout the province last week. No educational institution will be permitted to operate before 8:45 a.m., according to the notification.
All public and private schools in Punjab have altered their schedules in reaction to the worsening haze, according to an official announcement.
It added that any school that opens before 8:45 a.m. will be in breach of the guideline and could be fined between Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 1 million. With immediate effect from October 27, 2025, to April 15, 2026, the Punjab government formally changed the school schedule.
All schools will now open at 8:45 am and close at 1:30 pm, per the revised schedule that Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on Sunday. Parents, instructors, and students have been instructed to adhere to the revised timings.
The announcement states that single-shift schools would run from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with lessons ending at 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The first shift in double-shift schools runs from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while the second shift runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Instructors are required to work from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and, on Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
