The Senior Registrar Ophthalmology (BS-18) post in the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department has fifteen openings, as notified by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). These openings consist of three regularly offered positions designated for women and one post designated for minorities.

Qualification Requirements

One of the following requirements must be met by candidates in order to be considered for the role of Senior Registrar of Ophthalmology:

The principal need is an MBBS or a comparable medical degree from an institution accredited by the Pakistan Medical Commission.

In the relevant specialty, FCPS, MS, FRCS, MRCP, MD, or Diplomate of the American Board may be obtained.
equivalent medical training from an accredited university in the relevant specialty.

Alternative Requirement:
MBBS or a comparable medical degree from an institution accredited by the Pakistan Medical Commission.

The American Board of General Surgery or Medicine Diplomate, FCPS, MS, FRCS, MRCP, MD, or Diplomate (depending on the specialization).

Three years of real-world experience in the relevant field following graduation from an accredited school.

Age Limit

Male candidates: the maximum age limit is 52 years, with a general age relaxation of 7 years added to the 25- to 45-year range.

Female Candidates: The maximum age limit is 55 years, with a general age relaxation of 10 years added to the range of 22 to 45 years.

Documents Needed to Be Eligible

To be considered for the role, candidates must provide the original copies of the following documents for review:

Valid CNIC: It must not have expired on July 11, 2022, the last day to apply online.

Certificates of Education: Matriculation/O Level and Intermediate/A Level (or, if relevant, IBCC equivalency certificates).

Medical requirements: an MBBS or comparable degree, as well as an FCPS, MS, FRCS, MRCP, MD, or Diplomate of the American Board in the applicable specialty (or a comparable qualification combined with the necessary work experience).

Permanent Registration Certificate: Issued on or before the closing date, this certificate of valid registration from the PMDC/Pakistan Medical Commission demonstrates postgraduate qualifications.

Experience Certificate: Comprehensive work responsibilities and three years of relevant post-graduation hands-on training from an accredited institution (relevant for the second qualifying category).

Domicile Certificate: Issued on or before the closing date.

Departmental Permission Certificate: For government employees.

Equivalence Certificates: From HEC or QEDC for equivalent qualifications.

Disability Certificate: If applicable.

Important Information

Candidates may still be eligible if they applied for PMDC/PMC registration or renewal on or before the closing date and have not yet received their certificates. Documentary proof of their application, duly stamped and signed by the PMDC/PMC, is required.
