The syllabus for the 2025 matriculation and intermediate yearly exams would be reduced by 25%, according to the Sindh School Education Department.
A notification was issued on Monday to formally announce the revised approach, which states that tests will be administered using 75% of the syllabus.
The Directorate of Curriculum Assessment and Research, which is affiliated with the Sindh Education Department, made the decision.
75% of the syllabus will be tested for students in grades nine through twelve in all faculties, including science, humanities, commerce, general group, pre-medical, and pre-engineering.
For all courses, educational institutions have been directed to finish at least half of the syllabus before the winter break.
Just 50% of the remaining syllabus will be taught after the winter break, guaranteeing that 75% of the curriculum—which will also serve as the foundation for the exams—will be covered by the end of the 2024–2025 academic year.
On November 28, a subcommittee of the steering committee made the decision. The committee decided that the syllabus will be trimmed in accordance with the 2025–2026 academic calendar shift, which will see the start of the matric examinations on March 15 and the intermediate exams on April 15. The academic calendar will now start on April 1 instead of August 1.
